What holders should know
Plain answers about Axolotls ($AXOLOTLS). Every number says where it comes from.
How it works
Axolotls is a plain Solana token. Every whole million of it that a wallet holds carries one 24 × 24 pixel axolotl. The axolotls are not stored on chain: they follow from the token's history, which a keeper replays every minute and this site shows (how traits are drawn).
Buy at least 1,000,000 tokens in one transaction, with any wallet, app or aggregator, and a new axolotl is rolled for each whole million of the buy (which buys count). Send tokens to another wallet and your newest axolotls go with them, as far as that wallet's balance has room; to send a particular one, pick it in Collection. Sell or burn tokens and the axolotls they carried end (what ends an axolotl). Hold, and they stay.

Supply
1,000,000,000 tokens with 6 decimals (by design). One axolotl for every 1,000,000 a wallet holds (by design), so at most 1,000 can be alive at once (by design).
The curve
A Meteora bonding curve sells the token for SOL until a set amount is raised, then the pool moves to a Meteora DAMM v2 pool. Its numbers appear here, read live, once the pool's config exists.
Buys on the curve and on the pool after it roll axolotls the same way: one per whole million of the buy.
Fees
The curve charges a fee on every trade, set by the pool's config; the numbers appear here, read live, once it exists.
How traits are drawn
A buy's new axolotls are rolled from the hash of the block the buy lands in, mixed with the buy's signature, the wallet and each one's place in the buy. A block's hash does not exist until the block is made, so nobody, the buyer included, can know the traits before buying. The art's own roll turns that seed into 18 trait bytes.
What it does not protect against: the validator that makes a block has some influence over its hash. With the chain's history, the rules on this page and the art (below), anyone can recompute every axolotl; the snapshot names the buy that rolled each one. Ids count up in the order axolotls are rolled and are never used twice.
What ends an axolotl
When tokens leave a wallet and its new balance no longer covers its axolotls, the newest go. If the tokens go to another wallet, it keeps as many of them as its new balance has room for, newest first, and the rest burn. Tokens that go to a program's account (a pool when you sell, a vault, a multisig) burn them all, and burning tokens ends them too.
A transfer can name which go instead of the newest: a memo reading axolotls:send and their numbers (axolotls:send 12, up to 16) makes those leave first and reach the other wallet first. Collection writes it for you when you pick one to send, and works out how many tokens must go with it. A memo moves only the axolotls of the wallet that signs the tokens away.
Only buys roll new axolotls. Buys in one transaction are added up and roll one per whole million: two buys of 600,000 in two transactions roll nothing. Tokens that arrive any other way, from an exchange's wallet, a vault or a liquidity pool you withdraw from, add to the balance and roll none. Adding tokens to a pool counts as tokens leaving, so their axolotls end. A program's account never holds an axolotl.
The art
Every axolotl is drawn by this site from the committed art, sha256 1a6be3…471c40 (by design), the same art the rules roll with. Nothing of the art is on chain.
Where it trades
Anywhere that trades Solana tokens: it has no transfer hook, so every wallet, exchange and aggregator handles it. This site has no swap. A buy rolls axolotls when it is a swap, whoever routes it (a wallet, a trading app, Jupiter): always on the token's own pool (the curve on Meteora DBC, then the Meteora DAMM v2 pool it moves to), and on any other pool priced in SOL when the buyer pays at least 90% of the own pool's last trade before it (by design). A pool priced far below that, or in another token, rolls nothing.
Not affiliated with Meteora. The curve and the pool after it run on Meteora's open programs, which this project uses like anyone can.
